'Couple', 'Reclining Woman', and 'Dual Form' share a similar aesthetic of simplified, anthropomorphic forms. These sculptures address the figure through abstraction. The artist’s pursuit is “to delineate and synthesize the human condition in sculptural terms” in an attempt “to reach beyond the transitory to the enduring phenomena of existence.” Zinman incorporates the design elements of line, mass, and space with the effects of light and shadow accentuated by swells and hollows to further present a dichotomy between clarity of form and the subjective response she elicits from the viewer. In 'Couple' distinct forms are articulated then are merged together at the base into one unit, symbolic of the close relationship that can develop between two individuals.
